BRAC launches Tk 200m flood relief operations

BRAC, one of the largest non-government organisations of the country, has started its massive relief operations in all the flood-affected regions of the country. BRAC staff are already engaged in distributing relief materials and extending succour at around 100 upazillas.
BRAC has already committed Tk 50 million from its own resources and expects to mobilise donor and voluntary support of an additional Tk 150 million for flood relief operations.
BRAC has involved doctors, teachers, health workers and its staff members to distribute food items including rice and molasses as well as emergency medicines for the affected people.
A 24-hour control room has been set up at the BRAC headquarters in the city to monitor and coordinate flood relief activities in all areas throughout the country.
