BRAC staff contribute Tk 7.0m for relief operations

Over 44,000 members of BRAC regular staff from around the country have contributed Tk 7.0 million from their salary to BRAC's flood relief operations.
BRAC has already distributed relief items worth Tk 24.8 million to more than 1.0 million flood victims from 0.2 million households in 26 districts. Among the goods were chira, gur, rice, dal, packet biscuits, fitkiri, oral saline, water purifying tablets and emergency medicines.
The relief operations are being carried out by the BRAC staff and para-professionals operating out of 556 branch offices in 135 affected upazilas.
BRAC is providing Tk 50 million for its country-wide flood relief operations from its own resources and mobilising an additional Tk 150 million from donors and voluntary support.
BRAC will also initiate post-flood rehabilitation programmes in the affected regions.
