Sunday, 18 November 2007

Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC), a non-government organisation (NGO) in the country, will provide Tk 70 million (Seven crore) for emergency relief operations in recent hurricane 'SIDR'-hit areas, reports UNB.
BRAC will provide the money from its own fund and is hoping to mobilise another 70 million for relief and livelihood rehabilitation programme at the initial stage.
About 2,500 BRAC staff have been working round the clock in the affected areas of 11 worst hit districts --- Barguna, Patuakhali, Bagerhat, Pirojpur, Bhola, Barisal, Jhalakati, Khulna, Gopalganj, Shariatpur and Madaripur.
