Brahmanbaria Krishi Mela begins

BRAHMANBARIA, Apr 21: The three-day Brahmanbaria Krishi Mela-2010 began at Poura Abdul Kuddus Mukta Mancha in the town Tuesday.
The Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), the Fisheries Department and the Livestock Department jointly organised the fair with the assistance of National Agricultural Technology Project (NATP), an agriculture development project, to boost agricultural production in the country, sources said.
DAE Additional Director (Comilla Zone) AHM Ekbal Ahmed inaugurated the fair as the chief guest.
Crop production specialist Md Mozammel Hoque delivered the address of welcome on the occasion.
Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Abdul Wadud, Poura Mayor Hafizur Rahman Molla Kochi, Sadar Upazila Chairman Bashir Ulla Jaru, District Fisheries Officer Sawpon Kumar Sarker, District Livestock Officer (In-charge) Dr Md Abdul Halim were also present as special guests.
DAE Deputy Director Md Mosharrof Hossain presided over the inaugural function.
Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Md Monirul Hoque Mir conducted the function.
A total of 21 stalls were set up in the three-day agriculture fair.
The Project NATP, through its different programmes, has been contributing a lot to improving farmers' condition in the region and changing the country's socio-economic condition.
