BRDB disburses Tk 250m among destitute women in B'baria

BRAHMANBARIA, July 18: Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) disbursed Tk 250 million (Tk 25 crore) as loan among 6423 destitute women in the district under its poverty alleviation programme in the last financial year (2006-2007).
The BRDB had been disbursing the loan as part of its rural poverty alleviation programme to make women self-reliant.
The loan was disbursed to engage distressed women in various income generating projects like poultry, agriculture, pisciculture and various types of small and cottage industries, BRDB sources said.
