BRDB disburses Tk 552.40m

BARISAL, Aug 25 (BSS): Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) disbursed Tk 552.40 million (55.24 crore) as loans among 50,406 people in 10 upazilas of the district under its poverty alleviation and self-employment programmes in the last five years.
According to an official source, the loan was disbursed for small business, beef fattening, goat rearing, nursery, handicrafts, cottage industries, wheat cultivation, fish culture, poultry farming, betel leaf cultivation, etc.
Of the total, Tk 456.50m (45.65 crore) was distributed as crop loan and the rest Taka 9.60 crore for other purposes.
The BRDB realised Tk 430.8m (43.08 crore) from the borrowers during the same the period. The percentage of realisation was 87.
BRDB Deputy Director Mohammad Khalilur Rahman said the disbursement of loan in the current fiscal is going on in full swing.
