People of average intelligence plays bridge comfortably for a good result. While people of superficial intelligence muddles up simple hands and creates murmur with occasional squabbling. To illustrate, the following hand was dealt in a recent duplicate pair tournament :
Vul : None
Dealer : West
l Take-out- dble
l ** Re-opening dble
Result: 4 down-800
On the re-opening dble, South was obliged to bid club at 3 level for a disastrous result, while N- 5 had a little lam in diamond The declarer was pushed to a quagmire and drowned. North came up, to the hilt of taking setting trick (s) of enemy 2-5 bid. Buzzed !! --- the kitbizer felt aghast seeing at bidding debacle and was prompt to suggest to bring about partnership bidding perfection.
