Biden, Trump in tug-of-war

Kashmir protests India's new land laws
Shops and businesses were shut in several parts of Indian-controlled Kashmir on Saturday as separatists challenging Indian rule called for a general strike to denounce new laws that allow any Indians to buy land in the disputed region. Government forces in riot gear patrolled streets in Kashmir's main city of Srinagar in anticipation of anti-India protests. Public transport also stayed off the roads. Page 11
Index Agro share bidding begins today
The bidding to explore the cut-off price of shares of Index Agro Industries Limited will begin today (Sunday). Only the eligible investors (EIs) can participate in the price bidding which will continue until 5:00pm on November 4 (round the clock), according to a disclosure posted on the website of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). The period for submission of valuation report by the eligible investors through the electronic subscription system will start at 10:30am on November 5 and end at 10:30am on November 9. Page-9
BD beats India, Pak in sustainable trade
Bangladesh has surpassed India and Pakistan in terms of sustainable trade on the back of better performance in economic and social areas, says the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The EIU is the research and analysis division of the Economist Group providing forecasting and advisory services. The country jumped five places up in the index scoring 49.3 out of 100 and ranked 12th among 20 Indo-Pacific economies. The index measures a country's capacity to participate in the international trading system. Page-16
