Stocks down for fourth day
Stocks extended the losing streak for a fourth day in a row, as nervous investors continued their sell-offs amid growing macroeconomic worries. Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened the day's session in the red. Militants attack Indian army post
Suspected rebels attacked an army camp in Indian-administered Kashmir on Thursday killing three soldiers before being shot dead themselves, police said, four days ahead of the 75th anniversary of Indian independence. Officials say at least 130 militants and scores of police and soldiers have been killed this year in battles with rebels fighting for Kashmir's independence or its merger with Pakistan. Page 17
Extend ‘trade licence tenure to five yrs’
Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI) on Thursday called upon the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) to extend the tenure of trade licence to five years instead of existing one year. Leaders of the country's oldest chamber opined that the proposed extension in case of issuance and renewal of trade licence will help save time alongside reducing sufferings in getting the basic service. Shakib cancels Betwinner News deal
After the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) took a stern position against contract with a betting company brand, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan cancelled his contract.
