Core index dips below 6600 points
Stocks tumbled on Tuesday, with the key index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) falling below the 6,600 points after one month, as jittery investors sold shares to avoid further losses. DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, slid 64.49 points or 0.97 per cent to settle at 6,574. The core index lost over 88 points in the past two consecutive sessions. Page 9
Razib emerges unbeaten champion
Grand Master Enamul Hossain Razib of SAIF Sporting Club emerged unbeaten champion in the Walton International Rating Chess Tournament that concluded on Tuesday at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hallroom in the city. Grand Master Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh Police became unbeaten runner-up while FM Khandekar Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy finished 3rd in the meet. Page 15
Concern over Mariupol chemical attack
The US and Britain say they are looking into reports that chemical weapons have been used by Russian forces attacking the Ukrainian port of Mariupol. Ukraine's Azov regiment said three soldiers were injured by "a poisonous substance" in an attack on Monday. Page 14
