Tamim announces T20 retirement
Ending all speculations, Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal finally announced his retirement from the T20 International cricket. He will continue to play ODI cricket, a format in which he is the captain now and Test format. Page 15
Stocks keep losing on bourses
The stock market ended lower for the fourth straight session Sunday, after Eid vacation, as prolonged bearish sentiment kept investors shaky to pour funds in stocks amid growing macroeconomic worries. Deadly wildfires spread in Med
Thousands of firefighters are continuing to battle wildfires in Portugal, Spain and France, as a heatwave shows no sign of easing. In northern Portugal, a pilot died when his waterbombing plane crashed in the Foz Coa area, near the Spanish border. The Portuguese authorities say at least 238 people have died from the heat over the past week. Page 17
Dohazari-Cox's Bazar rly project delayed
Started over a decade ago, the Dohazari-Cox's Bazar-Gundum railway project has been delayed by two more years as the government extended its execution time up to June 2024, said officials involved with the fast-track project. Earlier, the project execution deadline was in June 2022. Meanwhile, execution cost of the Bangladesh Railways (BR)'s mega project has been increased on two occasions. Page 20
