DSE turnover hits one-yr high at Tk 28b
The daily turnover on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) climbed to a fresh one-year high on Tuesday, as optimistic investors put fresh funds on selective large-cap stocks. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 28.28 billion, up 42 per cent from the previous day's tally of Tk 19.90 billion. It happened to be the biggest single-day transaction in the DSE after one year since September 7, 2021, when daily turnover was recorded at Tk 28.66 billion. Page 9
5 killed in Iran protests over custodial death
Five people were killed in Iran's Kurdish region on Monday when security forces opened fire during protests over the death of a woman in police custody, a Kurdish rights group said, on a third day of turmoil over an incident that has ignited nationwide anger. Page 17
Don't do business with Peacocks
The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has instructed its members not to do business with British clothing brand Peacocks. Citing the court restriction, the trade body in a circular on September 12 last said Dhaka's First Joint District Judge issued a temporary injunction restraining from doing business with any readymade garment factories in Bangladesh using the name of the brand.
