Power Grid to issue shares
State-run Power Grid Company will issue shares to comply with a three-year-old order by the Financial Reporting Council. It will offer 201.08 million ordinary shares at a Tk 10 premium and 7.64 billion preference shares at Tk 10 face value. The total value of ordinary shares will be Tk 4.02 billion, while preference shares will amount to Tk 76.41 billion. Page 9
Shanto ton puts Tigers on top
Najmul Hossain Shanto struck his third Test century as Bangladesh dominated a hapless Afghanistan to score 362-5 on the first day of the one-off Test in Dhaka on Wednesday. Belarus taking delivery of Russian nukes
Belarus said it has started taking delivery of Russian tactical nuclear weapons, some of which are three times more powerful than the atomic bombs the US dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The deployment is Moscow's first move of such warheads - shorter-range less powerful nuclear weapons that could potentially be used on the battlefield - outside Russia since the fall of the Soviet Union. No DMTCL financial statement in a decade
State-owned Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) is yet to prepare and submit any financial statement to the authorities since its inception nearly a decade ago in 2013. According to sources, the Road Transport and Highways Division (RTHD) requested the company on several occasions to provide it with such statements but received hardly any response so far. Page 20
