Stocks break nine-day slump
Stocks bounced back in the gaining streak Monday, snapping a nine-day losing streak, as bargain hunters put fresh bets on lucrative issues after recent price erosion. The market saw a steep fall at opening and the key index plunged below the 6,000-mark, losing 68 points, within the first hour of trading. However, the index recovered gradually supported by the institutional investors. Page 9
Evacuated Ukrainians forced to return home

Oil rises in volatile trade, Fed hike weighs
Oil prices rose on Monday in seesaw trading as the market balanced supply fears with expectations that rise in US interest rates would weaken fuel demand. Brent crude futures for September settlement rose 79 cents, or 0.77 per cent, to $103.99 a barrel by 1050 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rose 82 cents, or 0.87 per cent, to $95.52 a barrel. Director of Bangladesh team Khaled Mahmud Sujon dismissed the notion that the senior players were dropped from the Zimbabwe-bound T20 squad in the name of rest.
