Bright prospect of mango production in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, Mar 15: Excellent sprouting of buds in Mango trees is visible in Nilphamari district. Local horticulturists predict a bright prospect of mango production this season in the district. Sources however point out climatic conditions, fluctuations in temperature, rainfall and attack by pests and insects upon which good production of mango depends.
There are about 0.2 million fruit giving trees of different ages and varieties across the 6 upazilas in Nilphamari district, most of which are in the homesteads areas of the people. Sources mentioned, commercial mango cultivation is also on increase in the district.
Commercial mango farmers are inclined to planting sweetest mango species like Gopal Bhog, Lengra, Fazlee, Khirsapati, Mohanbhog, Haribhanga and so on.
