Brighter apparel story?

Thursday, 27 August 2020

After a fall in export demand for readymade garments, the sector seems to have bounced back as orders placed for making the item have increased in August. There is another disappointing story for us as Vietnam has surpassed Bangladesh in securing the second position as global apparel exporter.
Since the apparel sector accounts for more than 80 per cent of Bangladesh export, there is no scope to give up hope. In fact, Bangladesh has scope to not only regain its position but also diversify its exports and earn more. But, entrepreneurs, regulators, and other stakeholders should sit together to take a number of steps to promote this industry.
