British gov\\\'t announces fund support for science sector

LONDON, Mar 12 (Xinhua): The British government yesterday announced a 300-million-pound (498 million U.S.  dollars) investment to support growth and jobs in the science sector as part of its long-term economic plan.
The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (DBIS) said cutting-edge science projects would benefit from the fund, which will drive innovation, growth and create jobs in science sector.
It estimated that the investment would create 150 million pounds for the country's economy each year.
"Investment in science is a crucial part of this government's long-term economic plan," said Science Minister David Willetts.
"It's about investing in our future, helping grow new industries and creating more jobs - - and that will mean more financial security for people across the country," he said.
