Baroness Tonge, member, House of Lords, will come to Bangladesh tomorrow (Monday) on a three-day visit to officially launch the Dhaka Initiative's (DI) report on 'Bihari Settlements in Bangladesh', said a press release of the British Council.

During her visit, Tonge will meet the Law Adviser, DI Trustees and the acting head of DFID in Bangladesh. She will also visit the DFID-funded poverty reduction project in Narayanganj and hold a meeting with executives of various international organisations.

The DI was established to materialise the wishes of the Biharis and assist them to attain a sustainable future in Bangladesh.

A recent survey conducted by DI on camp dwellers revealed that 80 per cent of the present Biharis were born after the liberation war and that 98 per cent wanted to participate in Bangladeshi society, the British Council press release said.
