Brokers Assoc, FBCCI team up to boost stock market

Monday, 7 September 2015

A leading association of the share-brokers has teamed up with Bangladesh’s apex chamber body to ensure more stability in the stock market by encouraging entrepreneurs to source their fund from the capital market. Leaders of DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) decided that they would hold joint meetings regularly to highlight the potential of the country’s stock market as the ‘alternative source of funding’. The decision came at a meeting between the Association and FBCCI, held on Monday at the Chamber’s building in Dhaka. "We will organise the joint meeting in every two months where the members of the association will brief leading industrialists about the benefit of using stock market as the alternative source of funding", FBCCI President Abdul Matlub Ahmad told reporters after the meeting. The FBCCI chief hopped that the initiative would have long-term positive impact, with attracting both the investors and the entrepreneurs to the stock market. DSE Brokers’ Association President Ahsanul Islam Titu said that his organisation would use the country-wide network of the FBCCI to promote the stock market as the alternation source of fund, which would eventually help ensure more stability in the stock market. He said besides the bi-monthly meeting, the association with support from the FBCCI and trade associations would also take some awareness programmes so more people invest in the stock market and more entrepreneurs come to here for arranging necessary fund instead of going to banks and other traditional sources, according to BSS.
