Brother killed, sister abducted

JOYPURHAT, July 5 (Agencies): A woman was abducted by her former husband after killing her brother in Paikortoli area of Dogachhi in Sadar upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Sabuj, 18, son of Abu Taleb of the village. Police arrested five people from the village in connection with their involvement in the incident.
Abu Taleb, father of victim 'Sabuj', 24, said his daughter had an affair with Tetultali village resident 'Shipon'.
She married him by defying her family and started living in Bogra. "But within three months, we learnt that Shipon has another wife. After that we brought our daughter back," Taleb said.
Recounting Friday's incident, he said, "A group of 10/12 men, led by Shipon, entered our house around 10:30pm. "They hacked my son Sabuj to death when he tried to intervene and went away with my daughter."
Joypurhat's police superintendent Hamidul Alam said the victim's family had identified several of the attackers.
He identified those arrested as Jahurul Islam, 20, Sohel Rana, 17, Rajon Hossain, 19, Saurav, 17, and Manik, 16.
All of them hail from Bogra's Nataiparha locality.
However, the girl could not be rescued until Saturday morning. The police superintendent said they were trying to track down the Shipon and rescue the girl.
