Brother, nephew get death for killing man

A Rangpur court has sentenced to death a man’s brother and nephew for murdering him over a land dispute more than a decade ago. The court in the verdict on Sunday acquitted two others. Convict Osman Gani, 72, and his son Mohsin Ali, 35, had hacked 75-year old Nabiullah of Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district to death on August 22, 2003. Nabiullah was Gani’s elder brother. The victim’s son filed a case over the killing the same day, accusing Gani, his two sons and daughter. Police pressed charges against them in December the same year, according to a news agency.
