BRTA, NSI officials slain

A vehicle inspector of Chittagong office of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) was killed allegedly by doping in the port city Thursday night. The BRTA inspector Preety Kumar Chakma (54) was found in an unconscious state in the city's Serson Road area under Kotwali Thana the same night. On information, police took him to Chittagong Medical College Hospital where he was declared dead at about 10:30 pm. On the other hand, unidentified assailants killed an officer of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) at Mirpur in the capital city Dhaka late Thursday, police and family said. His family said that he could have fallen victim to mugging on way to his Sabujbag residence after returning from Kushtia by bus. — Agencies
