BRTC, Bangladesh Railway start Eid services today

FE ReportBangladesh Road TransÂport Corporation (BRTC) and Bangladesh Railway (BR) are starting their Eid services from today (Wednesday) to facilitate the home-bound people to celebrate Eid-ul- Azha with their near and dear ones.
Officials said though full-fledged BRTC bus service is scheduled to begin three days before the Eid from Sunday, the corporation will start the service Wednesday considering tremendous rush of Eid-goers.
Railway officials said the special train service will start from Wednesday but full -fledged Eid service will be available from Thursday to Monday.
"BRTC will press additional buses into service on the routes where demand is high before the Eid," said Quazi Shafique Uddin, Deputy General Manager of the corporation.
He said the Eid service will continue up to November 10 to help the people to return to their work places.
Officials said tickets for both train and buses have almost been sold out. Sale of train tickets ended on Monday. BRTC started issuing bus tickets from October 23.
BRTC officials said almost all tickets were sold out.
"Tickets of all airconditioned buses on some routes including Dhaka-Bogra were sold out. We are now planning to introduce non-AC buses on those routes due to high demand," said the DGM.
BRTC has formed a special committee to monitor the Eid ticket selling and bus services for the home bound people.
It has also kept seats reserved for physically challenged passengers. The buses will start journey from the city's BRTC stations at Motijheel, Joarsahara, Kalyanpur, Mirpur 12 (Double Decker), CBS-2 Fulbaria, Gabtali BRTC Bus terminal, Mohakhali Bus terminal and AirportCanÂtonment Railway Station.
