BSB earns Tk 128.7m pre-tax profit

Bangladesh Shilpa Bank (BSB) earned a pre-tax profit of Tk 128.7 million (12.87 crore) during 2006-'07 fiscal year.
This was disclosed in the 21st annual general meeting of the share holders of the bank held at its head office in the city recently.
Chairman of the bank Aminul Islam Bhuiyan presided over the meeting. Deputy Secretary of Finance Ministry Ruhi Rahman, Managing Director NazmuI Bari and general managers of the bank were also present on the occasion, among others.
Nazmul Bari said the bank earned a pre-tax profit of Tk 128.7 million. He also said the bank recovered Tk 1.065 billion (106.54 crore). The bank also sanctioned about Tk 1.11 billion (111.00 crore) for 53 projects including long term loan to 38 projects and disbursed Tk 705.4 million (70.54 crore) to 66 projects.
After implementation, the newly sanctioned projects will create employment opportunities for about 3000 persons.
A total of 20 projects liquidated their loan accounts with the bank. During the period classified loan declined to 28 per cent from 33 per cent.
Presently, BSB has no provision short fall. BSB repaid about Tk 600 million (60 crore) to the Bangladesh Bank and other loan giving agencies as DSL.
