BSBA president elected

CHITTAGONG, October 13: Mohammed Abu Taher has been elected president of Bangladesh Ship Breakers Association (BSBA) in the first-ever direct election in its 30 years' history.
Besides, Amzad Hossain Chowdhury and Md Shafi have been elected vice president of the association. They were unanimously nominated in a meeting of BSBA's newly-elected directors, held at its office Monday.
On Sunday the organisation's general members cast their franchise to elect 11 directors out of 19 candidates. A total of 109 members, out of 126, cast votes.
The elected directors were Md Shafi (S Trading), Sekandar Hossain (King Steel), Amzad Hossain Chowdhury (Rising Steel), Noyeem Shah Imran (Bhatiary Ship Breakers), Md Abu Taher (Taher and Co), Moqsudur Rahman (M Rahman Steel), Zahirul Islam Rinku (PHP Ship Recycling Ltd), Ashiqur Rahman (Matin Enterprise), Nuruddin Md Jahangir Chowdhury (MAPS Steel), Mohammed Lokman (SL Steel) and Mohammed Salauddin (KBS Steel).
As per BSBA provisions, the elected directors nominated president and two vice presidents.
