CHITTAGONG, July 26: As no new vessel has been added into the fleet of Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) for the last 18 years it would rather become difficult on the part of the only national flag carrier on marine route of the country to survive in the near future, sources said.
Most of the 12 vessels in the existing fleet of BSC have already exceeded 25 years.
In this connection, one BSC official told the FE that if BSC is not moderanised like Bangladesh Biman, it might face a natural death very shortly.
Sources said, even on being equipped with these old vessels, BSC had earned profit during last fiscal.
