BSC to buy 13-year old container vessel

CHITTAGONG, June 21: Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) in its 224th board meeting held at BSC Bhaban in Chittagong resolved to construct a 30-story building in Dhaka and procure a 13-year old container vessel capable of handling 500 to 700 TEUs cargoes at a total cost of Tk 1.150 billion.
This was disclosed by the Shipping Adviser Major General (Retd) MA Matin while presiding over the meeting in the city recently.
The adviser also directed the concerned authority to take necessary steps to raise the income of the BSC's fleet of vessels through reducing expenditures on different heads.
In terms of the decision taken in the board meeting a 15-story building would be built in the first phase under the 30-story office-cum-commercial building construction project at Dilkusha in the capital city involving an estimated expenditure of Tk 310 million.
On the other hand, a container vessel would be procured at a cost of Taka 840 million.
