Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has undertaken a plan to introduce some new trade-based training programmes, including home textile and fashion designing to modernise its training module by involving new technology.
BSCIC Acting Chairman ABM Khurshed Alam said this while inaugurating a five-day Autumn fair (Hemanto Mela - 1415) alongside a five-day Handicraft Exhibition as the chief guest on the BSCIC premises at Motijheel in the city Sunday.
He also said BSCIC will also start new training programmes in its four divisional offices to produce skilled manpower for development of the country's small and cottage industry.
The Design Centre of BSCIC has organised both the events on the occasion of the National Victory Day. It will continue up to December 4.
The exhibition by trainees who took part in the three-month BSCIC training programme recently is being held at the Joynul Abedin Exhibition Hall to familiarise the visitors with the products of the trainees.
However, entrepreneurs, over 90 per cent of them women, are participating in the fair to showcase their products in 73 stalls. The products include fabrics with block, boutique and embroidery, jute and leather items.
Later, the chief guest distributed certificates among 102 trainees from 11 trades of BSCIC training, whose products are being displayed at the exhibition.
