BSD for national consensus based on 1971 spirit

Thursday, 5 June 2008

Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal (BSD) at a dialogue with the caretaker government (CG) Wednesday proposed forging a national consensus based on the fundamental spirit of the 1971 Liberation War and public demands raised during the 1990 mass upsurge against autocracy for a changeover to a new polity, reports UNB.

The socialist party expressed its opinion for a review of the Constitution to remove inconsistencies between the Constitution and governance of the country as they found that the Constitution was not followed in many cases.

They were told that the government thought it was the time to take initiative to form Constitutional Review Commission on the basis of consensus to rewrite the articles to ensure people's fundamental rights.

BSD Convenor Khalequzzman and Education Adviser Hossain Zillur Rahman on behalf of the government side came up with the views at a post-dialogue joint press briefing at the Chief Adviser's (CA's) office after their two-hour-long talks from 10.00 am.
