BSF firing kills one in Joypurhat

JOYPURHAT, Sept 18: A Bangladeshi national was killed and four others sustained bullet injuries as members of the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire on them at bordering Paschim Ram Krishnapur village in Sadar upazila on Friday. The deceased was identified as Sayem, a resident of the village. Tozammel Haque, chairman of Dholahar union, said the BSF members chased two children while they were catching fish in a pond near the 276/7 no. border pillar in the village. As the villagers protested the incident, the BSF members entered the village around 12:30pm and opened fire on them that left five people, including Sayem, injured. — UNB
