BSF hands over 17 Bangladeshis

CHUADANGA, August 1 (UNB)-The Border Security Force (BSF) of India handed over 17 Bangladeshi nationals to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Friday morning.
The flag meeting, which started at 11:30am, was conducted at the Company Commander level between the Chuadanga Battalion (6 BGB) and 161 BSF Battalion at the zero line near Main Pillar 105.
Subedar Shri Tapas Kumar, company commander of Mujibnagar BGB camp, led the BGB side, while Inspector Shri Dharmendradah represented the BSF from the Hnadaypur BSF camp.
The 17 individuals comprising eight men, five women, and four children had reportedly crossed into India illegally through various border points over an unspecified period.
Preliminary questioning revealed that all had entered India without proper documentation.
Following coordination between the two border forces, the individuals were formally repatriated in accordance with established procedures.
BSS adds that the BSF pushed at least nine individuals, including three children, into Bangladesh through different borders in
Panchagarh on Thursday night.
Of them, a woman along with her three children, was pushed in through the Banglabandha border in Tentulia.
BGB members on duty detained them inside the Bangladesh territory.
At the same time, the BSF handed over a woman, detained from Shiliguri, over to BGB formally, said BGB-18 Commander Lieutenant Colonel Monirul Islam.
He said the BGB held a company commander level meeting with the BSF and later the BSF handed over the woman to them.
Apart from this, five women were pushed into Bangladesh through borders along the Haribhasa area of Panchagarh Sadar upazila, said Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdullah Hil Zaman.
He said legal procedure is underway.
Zaman also said that the BSF pushed in 157 individuals, including children, into Bangladesh through different borders of the district during the last three months.
