BSF seize drugs, gold worth Rs 100m in June

India’s Border Security Force (BSF), deployed on south Bengal frontier of the Indo-Bangladesh border, have seized contraband and gold worth over Rs 100 million and held about 244 Bangladeshi illegal immigrants in June, an official release said on Thursday. Besides seizing 15.39 kilograms of gold worth over Rs 40.08 million, the BSF confiscated 42.8 kg of ganja and 20,781 bottles of Phensedyl valued at over Rs 1.9 million from various border outposts spread across the districts of North 24-Parganas, Murshidabad, Malda and Nadia in India’s West Bengal state. BSF has also seized fake Indian currency notes having face value of Rs 1 million and 50,000 in Malda district. Besides, the border force have seized other contraband items and cattle worth Rs 4,80,61,601 and arrested 244 illegal Bangladeshi migrants in June, according to bdnews24.com.
