BSFF holds meet to stimulate exchange of information on fish export

Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation (BSFF) organised a meeting with Bangladesh Ambassador to the US Humayan Kabir in the city recently to stimulate exchange of information in respect of various non-tariff trade barriers for shrimp and fish export from Bangladesh to the EU and the US.
BSFF Executive Director Mahmudul Karim made a presentation on the non-tariff trade rules relevant to the shrimp-based industry and the urgent need for compliance of the rules at all levels of the food chain to survive in the global competition.
The ambassador stressed the need for publicising the good work done in the country, keeping the embassy in the loop for communication of the development and publicising the activities to the media, NF1 and USFDA.
BSFF has recently published a few booklets on EU non-tariff rules and US Bio-terrorism Act-2002 and organised training programmes for the officials of the Department of Fisheries, field-level stakeholders including farmers and operators of field depots, feed millers, ice plant operators and shrimp processors and organised seminars with the stakeholders.
The meeting was attended by Commerce Secretary Feroz Ahmed, Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Syed Ataur Rahman, Bureau of Economics Research Chairman MA Taslim, Sadharan Bima Corporation Managing Director Elias Ahmed, Chief Controller of Insurance Mahfuzul Haque, Department of Fisheries Director General Mokammel Hossain and Frozen Foods Exporters Association Senior Vice President Maqsudur Rahman, among others, on the occasion.
