BSFIC will produce 173100 tonnes sugar

Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industry Corporation (BSFIC) has set a target of producing 1,73,100 tonnes of sugar by taking its 15 sugar mills in full operation in the fiscal year 2008-2009, says a press release.
Sugarcanes crushing at the mills under BSFIC for 2008-2009 season was inaugurated at Zeal Bangla Sugar Mill in Jamalpur.
Finance Ministry (monitoring cell) Director General Dr. Chowdhury Saleh Ahmed inaugurated the operation of sugarcane crushing on Friday while BSFIC Chairman Md Mokhlesur Rahman was present on the occasion as special guest.
Three mills have already started their crushing operation. Nine other mills will resume their operation for this season on 28 November 2008. Zeal Bangla resumed its operation with a target of 10,800 tonnes at 8 per cent recovery rate from 135,000 tonnes of sugarcanes by year 2008-2009.
BSFIC Director and Joint Secretary M M Niazuddin inaugurated sugarcane crushing in Faridpur and Kushtia region.
BSFIC set a target of obtaining 11,100 tonnes of sugar at the recovery rate of 7.50 per cent from 148,000 tonnes of sugarcanes in Faridpur region and 13,200 tonnes of sugar at recovery rate of 8.00 per cent from grinding 165,000 tonnes of sugarcanes in Kushtia.
