BSJA sports awards given away

Bangladesh Sports Journalists' Association (BSJA) Tuesday gave away awards to 111 sports personalities for the last seven years-"Kool BSJA Awards 2002-2008"-at a colourful function at the NSC Tower in the capital, reports UNB.
Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad distributed the awards to the winners. State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarker and Managing Director of Square Toiletries Limited Anjan Chowdhury Pintu were present as special guests.
The function also marked the 21st birthday anniversary of national all rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who was nominated for the sportsman of the year 2008 award.
World number one ranking all rounder Shakib celebrated his birth day with a buoyancy mood by cutting a birth day cake in presence of the winners of the awards.
Recipients of BSJA award for the year 2002: shooter Asif Hossain Khan (sportsman of the year), cricketer Alok Kapali (find of the year), Kazi Nazrul Islam (football), Enamul Hossain Rajib (chess), Khaled Mashud Pilot (cricket), Rafiq-un Nabi Nakib (hockey), Abul Hossain (football-coach), Shafiqul Islam Manik (football-coach), Amir Babu (cricket-coach), Salman F Rahman, Shafiqur Rahman Munna and Shamsul Haque Chowdhury (organizer), Partex Group, Coca Cola, Ispahani Group (sponsor), Abdur Rahim, Sk Akmol Hossain (special contribution to sports) and Dewan Shafiul Arefin Tutul (lifetime achievement).
Recipients for the year 2003 - footballer Rajani Kanta Barman (sportsman of the year), Mehdi Hasan Parag (find of the year), Motiur Rahman Munna (footall), Nazrana Khan Eva (chess), Mohammad Rafique (cricket), Shamsun Nahar Chumki (athletics), Wajed Gazi (football-coach), Osman Khan (cricket-coach), Kazi Selim (shooting-coach), Mosaddek Ali Falu, Afzalur Rahman Sinha, Sirajul Islam Bachchu, Kazi Rajibuddin Ahmed Chapal and Nurul Alam Chowdhury (organizer), Square Group, Emirates and CityCell (sponsor), Enayetur Rahman Khan, Ahmed Sajjadul Alam Bobby and Badal Roy (lifetime achievement).

Recipients for the year 2006: athlete Shajahan Ali Ronny (sportsman of the year), Shahriar Nafees (cricket), Biplob Bhattacharya (football), GM Rifat Bin Sattar (chess), Mizanur Rahman (taekwondo), Mahbubul Anam (organiser) and Europa Group (sponsor).
Recipients for the year 2007: cricketer Mohammad Ashraful (sportsman of the year), Tamim Iqbal (cricket), Zahid Hasan Emily (football), GM Abdullah Al Rakib (chess), Sumita Rani Das (athletics) and Mahfuzur Rahman Siddiqui (organizer).
