BSMMU, SGH to sign deal on jt replacement surgery

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) is going to sign a technical support agreement on 'joint replacement surgery' with Singapore General Hospital (SGH) soon. This was unveiled at a seminar on Continuous Medical Education (CME) and a live demonstration on joint replacement surgery at BSMMU Saturday. Ahead of the agreement signing, a specialist team of 12 members from SGH, headed by Professor Boon Keng Tay, came to BSMMU to replace a woman patient's knee with an artificial one. Three specialists of the Department of Orthopaedics, BSMMU - Dr Nokul Kumar Datta, Dr Krisna Priya Das and Dr Abu Jafar Chowdhury (Biru) - also took part in the replacement surgery with the specialists of Singapore. Professor Tay said signing of this type of co-operation agreements would make the lives of the people easier.
