BSMRAAU starts academic session on Lalmonirhat campus

LALMONIRHAT, July 03: Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University (BSMRAAU) formally commenced its academic session on Lalmonirhat campus on Sunday.
Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, BBP, BUP, nswc, fawc, psc inaugurated the session as the chief guest.
Vice-Chancellor of BSMRAAU Air Vice-Marshal Muhammad Nazrul Islam BSP, nswc, afwc, psc, GD (P) welcomed the Chief of Air Staff and the delegation on the newly-built campus. Among others, high officials of air headquarters, military high officials, teachers and students were present on the occasion.
Earlier, BSMRAAU started its academic activities on Dhaka campus in 2020. The permanent campus of the university will be set up in Lalmonirhat. In February, 2022, the university inked a tripartite contract for feasibility study, master plan, Development Project Proposal (DPP) preparation which will ensure the construction of its permanent campus.
However, Bangladesh Air Force has constructed an academic building and residential facility to help the university authority commence its academic session on Lalmonirhat campus. Initially, two ongoing undergraduate courses have been shifted to Lalmonirhat.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief of Air Staff said, "BSMRAAU is a dream project of our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina."
"BSMRAAU will act as a strategic tool for Bangladesh and beyond to produce skilled human resources to serve in the rapidly growing aviation and aerospace sector."
The university looks poised to become a centre of excellence for aviation and aerospace studies in this region and beyond, he added.
"Setting up of the university in one of the northernmost districts of Bangladesh indicates that the government plans to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education for all citizens."
He also expressed the hope that the university would create opportunities for the people in this region particularly for the young generations.
