BSTI fines eight electronic shop owners Tk 97,000

RAJSHAHI, Jul 26 (BSS): A mobile court of the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) fined eight dishonest electronic shop owners Tk 97,000 in the city Wednesday.
According to BSTI sources, as part of the frequent drive against adulteration in food items and cheating in weighing, measurement and quality, the mobile court led by Metropolitan Magistrate Janendra Nath Sarker conducted the raids in a number of electronic shops at Shaheb Bazar in the city.
The court found eight of the shop owners guilty of violating the existing BSTI rules and eight separate cases were lodged against each of those.
All the cases were disposed of through realisation of Tk 97,000 as fine on the spot.
