BTA signs bi-lateral deal with BCSU

A bi-lateral agreement has recently been signed between Bangladesh Tea Association (BTA)- Bangladeshiyo Cha Sangsad (BCS), only the representative body of tea estates in Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Cha Sramik Union (BCSU) in Chittagong, said a press release.
BTA Chairman M Salman Ispahani and BCSU President Makhan Lal Kormakar signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations.
The agreement will remain effective for two years from September 01, 2009 to August 31, 2011.
Under the deal, the salary scale of monthly-rated permanent tea workers was increased by 37.19 per cent and the wage of daily-rated permanent tea workers was increased by 47.69 per cent plus other monetary benefits.
Also present at the signing ceremony were BTA Labour sub-committee convener M Shah Alam, members M Kamal, Shafique A Chowdhury and M Nurul Alam and BCSU general secretary Ram Bhajon Koiri.
