BTMA hails second stimulus package

Textile millers have hailed the government's second stimulus package worth Tk 10 billion to help the export-oriented enterprises, including textile and readymade garment, face the global meltdown.
Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) thanked finance minister AMA Muhith and said this package will bring fruitful result in the long run though it was already delayed, said a press release.
BTMA appreciated the facilities to be provided by the export development fund to export yarn and others fiber under the stimulus package.
They said license fee for the captive generaters in textile sector and renewal fee will be given from this stimulus package from November, 2009 until June, 2010 which will be effective.
They said the government's decision to the time extension for loan rescheduling without down payment and fixation of interest rate at 10 per cent will help the textile sector.
The government will also assist the National Institute of Textile, Training Research and Design (NITTRAD) which will help to run the institute efficiently.
