FE REPORT | Thursday, 15 August 2024
The chairman of Bangl desh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC), Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, resigned on Wednesday from his position.
In a resignation letter sent to the Bangladesh Government's Posts and Telecommunications Division, the BTRC chief cited illness as the reason behind his resignation.
The government division received the letter at around 4:30pm on the day, according to the sources of the division.
"I have resigned voluntarily," Ahmed's resignation letter said, adding that he is unable to continue his duties due to sickness.
This comes a day after a probe report said the internet shutdown during the recent protests was directed by Ahmed following the verbal instructions of former state minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak.
