BTRC revokes licences of 30 ISPs

Tuesday, 14 July 2015

The telecom regulator has revoked permits of 30 internet service providers (ISP), including Nextel Telecom Limited, Flora Limited and Poly IT Limited, for not renewing their licences in time, reports bdnews24.com.
The BTRC also issued an order on Sunday, shutting the operations of these organisations.
It said, according to the rules, the organisations were supposed to renew the permits before they expired but the ISPs had not even applied for renewal.
Their licences are no longer valid and operating with expired permits would be violation of the law and amount to a punishable offence.
It also warned that if all arrears were not cleared within 10 days, the BTRC would take legal steps against the defaulters.
