BTTB reduces call charges, line rents

The Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) Thursday reduced various call charges and line rents for the benefit of its customers, said a BTTB press statement.
The decision on the change in call charges will be effective from November 1 next, it said.
The release said the customers will have to pay Tk 1.50 for each nationwide dialing (NWD) per minute.
In 30 seconds, the customers will pay Tk 0.75 for each NWD call, as there is a pulse in every 30 second.
Entire Bangladesh will be considered as one zone and calls from one district to another district will be treated as NWD calls, the press release said.
Calls within one administrative district will, however, be considered as local calls.
The BTTB will charge Tk 1.50 for each local call within a district and upazilas under one district.
The same rate will be applicable for the customers in case of calls between the BTTB operators and other operators within the same district, the release said.
According to the new decision, the peak-hour will range from 8am to 8pm and off-peak hour from 8pm to 8am, sources said.
The monthly line rent in Dhaka-Chittagong Multi-exchange zones will be Tk 80 and Tk 70 in divisional cities and district towns.
The monthly line rent at the upazila and growth centre zone will be Tk 50 per month, the release said.
The BTTB will charge Tk 1000 for each outer-transfer of telephone number under same code area in Dhaka-Chittagong Multi-exchange zone, Tk 500 in divisional cities and district towns and Tk 300 in upazilas and growth centres.
The charge will be Tk 1000 for re-connectivity in Dhaka-Chittagong Multi-exchange zones and Tk 500 in other divisional cities, district towns, upazilas and growth centres.
The BTTB also reduced fees for name and address change in its latest move, the release said.
The E1 Media fees have been fixed at Tk 10,000 and establishment at Tk 30,000, said the press release.
