Budget allocation for poverty alleviation stressed

Former chairman of Bangladesh Krishi Bank Khandaker Ibrahim Khaled said adequate allocation in the budget is needed for alleviating poverty, reports BSS.
He urged the government to show zero tolerance to corruption as it is showing to terrorist activities.
Mr Khaled said these at a views exchange meeting at Jatiya Press Club Wednesday morning.
Lauding achievements of the government, Mr Khaled said, "It is possible to alleviate poverty keeping separate allocation for the extreme poor. Poverty will go down if extreme poverty is targetted."
Dhaka University Associate Professor Dr Taiabur Rahman placed the keynote paper at the views exchange meeting. It was attended by advocate Peer Fazlur Rahman Mesbah, MP, advocate Tipu Sultan, MP, Nazmul Haque Prodhan, MP, among others.
