Thursday, 5 June 2014

Though the government has unveiled the largest-ever budget, its successful implementation will be a bit challenging for the government, says eminent economist Dr AB Mirza Azizul Islam. “It seems to me that the implementation of the budget will be a bit uphill and challenging task for the government,” he told UNB in his preliminary reaction on the budget proposed for the fiscal year 2014-2015. Explaining further, the former finance adviser to the caretaker government said the target set for the revenue collection would not be achieved. Secondly, Mirza Aziz said, the size of the foreign assistance set for the proposed new budget will also not be possible to achieve. He also expressed doubt over the implementation of ADP (Annual Development Programme) as there is a lack administrative efficiency and sincerity required for ADP implementation, according to a news agency.
