Budget session begins today

The 4th budget session of the 10th parliament is going to begin at 11am today (Tuesday), reports UNB.
Before the House goes into session, the Business Advisory Committee will sit at a meeting at 10am to fix the duration of the 16th session of the current parliament.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith on Thursday (June 1) will place the new national budget for the upcoming fiscal year (2017-18).
Muhith at different pre-budget discussions hinted that the size of the new budget will be Tk 4,20,000 crore (4.2 trillion) with a target of 7.4 per cent GDP growth.
President Abdul Hamid on May 14 last summoned the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) session exercising the power bestowed upon him as per Article 72 (1) of the Constitution.
Earlier on May 8, the 15th session of the 10th parliament was prorogued after only five sittings.
On June 2, 2016, Muhith placed a Tk 3.40 trillion (3 lakh 40 thousand 605 crore) budget with a target of 7.2 per cent GDP growth for the 2016-17 fiscal year.
