Budgetary allocation necessary for working children: Experts

Monday, 18 June 2007

Budget allocation is indispensable for improving the living standard of working children in the country, human rights activists said Sunday, reports UNB.
Addressing a press conference at the Dhaka Reporters' Unity, they said many of the working children are deprived of fundamental rights, including education, health service, balanced food and entertainment.
They said that of the total 42.2 million child population in the country, working children constitute around 7.5 per cent or 3.2 million -- 2.46 million boys and 0.71 million girls.
The human rights activists hoped that the present government would sincerely take the initiative to have budgetary provisions for improving the condition of the working children.
