BUILD for policy reforms

Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD)- the first ever Public Private Dialogue platform of Bangladesh held its 4th Trade & Investment Working Committee Meeting Tuesday in the Conference Room of Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dhaka (MCCI).
Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, Secretary Ministry of Commerce and Rokia Afzal Rahman, President, MCCI co-chaired the meeting.
The meeting discussed important policy reform issues and made recommendations to be incorporated in the upcoming Import and Export Policy for 2015-2018.
Asif Ibrahim, Chairman, BUILD was also present in the meeting.
BUILD through its reforms policy paper suggested for institutional and infrastructural development for full automation of GSP Certificate, simplification of regulatory issues and supportive import policy for manufacturing sector of Bangladesh. BUILD presented some issue briefs requesting deemed exporters' benefit for Engineering Procurement and Construction(EPC) business, inclusion of value addition criterion for all export sectors in the up-coming import policy and some policy suggestions for SPS (Sanitary and Phytosanitary) certification for agro products.
BUILD is a joint initiative Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), MCCI and Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CCCI).
BUILD has been working as a strategic partner of Private Sector Development Policy Coordination Committee (PSDPCC)- a high-powered Committee established in the Prime Minister's Office chaired by the Principal Secretary. BUILD has so far has been able to implement a number of reforms for the private sector development of Bangladesh.
