Bullet from own gun kills police officer

A police officer was killed by a bullet from his own gun while he was on duty in Raipur Upazila in Lakshmipur district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Jalil, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police and the son of late Ayub Ali of Aleyapur village of Begunganj uUpazila of Noakhali district. Police said when Jalil was taking tea in a tea stall near Raipur Police Station a bullet went off accidentally from his gun and hit in his chest, leaving him injured. He succumbed to his injuries on way to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital. His body was sent to the Sadar Hospital for autopsy, according to a news agency.
