Bumper Aman production expected in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Oct 24 (BSS)- Farmers of all the seven upazilas in Gaibandha district are expecting bumper production of Transplanted (T) Aman Paddy during this current season. Office sources said Department of Agriculture of Extension (DAE) set a target to bring a total of 1, 18,585 hectares of land under T-Aman paddy cultivation in the district this year with the production target of 3,01,077 metric tones of rice. Of the total, some 16,550 hectares of land were cultivated in Sadar Upazila, 14,350 in Sadullapur, 12,650 in Palashbari, 29,300 in Gobindaganj, 23,150 in Sundarganj, 13,950 in Saghata and 8,635 in Fulchhari Upazila of the district. The seedlings of transplanted Aman paddy have grown well and the scenario of the paddy field has turned into greenish look in the district. Now, the growers are so much busy to nurture the cultivated land in a bid to get desired production to ensure their food security till boro harvest.
